Anish graduated from Wits medical school in 1998 and after his internship at Joburg General Hospital, completed a year of community care service in Accident and Emergency Medical Services in KZN Province. He then specialised in Internal Medicine at The Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine obtaining his specialist qualification (FCP (SA)) in 2004.

In 2006 he obtained his sub-speciality registration in Pulmonology and was appointed Senior Specialist Pulmonologist in the Department of Pulmonology and Critical Care at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital, Durban.
