Professor Umesh Lalloo is known both Nationally and Internationally as an expert in the field of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. He is Professor and Head of Department of Pulmonology and Critical Care at The Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine. He is also, the director of the Adult HIV Programmes, an executive director of the KZN enhancing care initiative, an International Regent of The American College of Chest Physicians and The Chairperson of The Credentials Committee of The South African Thoracic Society.
He has received numerous awards and accolades for his academic and clinical excellence. He has in excess of 100 peer-reviewed publications and is on the board and editorial committees of several high-impact international medical journals.
He is an executive member of the following societies:
